Strictly Sail Miami is THE Catamaran Show

Catamarans Everywhere at the Strictly Sail Miami Boat Show

miami boat show showThe Strictly Sail Miami Boat Show has come and gone in what seems like a flash and we have been busily following up on all the interested buyers, charterers and other general inquiries. It was a great show for all of us and we once again had glorious weather for the duration of the show with a general festive air all around! Many of our boat owners visited the booth to catch up, buy some new “toys” at the convention center and to attend the Latts & Atts Cruisers party of course! Dream Yacht Charters once again generously donated a charter in the BVI to the L&A readers. The boat show was well attended and the exhibitors did not disappoint. There were several multihulls on display that wowed the crowd, in particular the Outremer 49, the Gunboat 66, Fountaine Pajot 48, Discovery 50, and the Lagoon 560. We did miss some others this year though like Sunreef, Matrix, and a new Privilege. None of those made the show this year, however Sunreef did have their new Powercat on display. We presented buyers with new solutions for smart charter yacht ownership and a unique worldwide ownership exchange with the Peak Time Program between Annapolis and the Bahamas. It piqued everyone’s interest and several new owners will join us next season but we need more boats in both locations, so please contact us for more info about these programs.

lagoon 560 catamaranThe Lagoon 560 and 450 models are in one word simply spectacular. The interior design and layouts are very attractive and we have just had one of our new Lagoon 450 owners report back from the BVI on this catamaran’s great sailing ability. We will post the video soon. As you can tell the interior styling and layout is well thought out and luxuriously appointed. Contact us for full brochures and pricing.

Outremer 49 catamaranThe Outremer 49 was quite the talk of the Sail Boat Show. The fun graphics and vivid orange color already makes the yacht a standout among the other white hulls but it is her sleek racy lines that are most impressive. The Outremer 49 catamaran is an award winning performance cruising catamaran and is the newest model from the 30-year-old yard in the South of France which has produced legendary cruising cats and transatlantic race winners. She is an innovative creation by Christophe Barreau, well known for his successful multihulls such as the TS50 and Catana range of catamarans. Presently the Outremer 49 catamaran is the only multihull in the 50′ range which can offer generous living accommodations and payload, ease of single handing, customer customization, a superb level of finish and high performance in a reasonable package. In short – Outremer has reinvented itself and came out with another winner at a very attractive price. Contact us for more information about this catamaran.

gunboat 66 catamaran

The Gunboat 66 is as impressive as its name suggests, both in looks and performance. The Gunboat 66 features supreme sailing performance with her all carbon and epoxy construction, and luxurious owner’s accommodations. The new Gunboat 66 is a big, bad speed machine that has the sail area, light stiff hulls, and the waterline length that makes “cruising” at 30 knots a possibility. There’s lots of 60-80 foot cruising cats out there, but none are designed and built for speed quite like the Gunboats.

catana 47 catamaranCatana displayed its 47ft model this time around and she is beautiful! The new remodeled version is almost 700 kilos lighter, with carbon fiber used as standard for the main partitions, roof and numerous structural supports. Timed at almost 25 knots during its initial trials, the Catana 47 is fast, light, robust and exceptionally easy to handle, giving both helmsman and passengers a remarkable sensation of speed and acceleration. Catana has it’s die hard fans and it seems that the fan base is growing steadily, specially since the interiors have been upgraded to suit even very sophisticated tastes. Dream Yacht Charters have these yachts for charter all around the world. More and more people enjoy these performance cats. Once you sail on a performance cat like Catana, it’s hard to go back to a regular cruising yacht!

fountaine pajot salina 48

Fountaine Pajot displayed its Salina 48, a very popular model for its spaciousness, luxury and great aft sun deck.

It is a wonderful charter yacht as it affords ample accommodations and space. Both the Salina 48 and the Orana 44 are popular models and can be viewed in Miami with Florida Yacht Charters.

nautitech sailboatThe Nautitech 44 was a nice surprise. The interior is very pleasant to the eye and extremely functional. The bulkhead helm station option is a very big improvement in my opinion. Nautitech has always been good sailing catamarans and the improved interior and helm station, at a good price point it is a winner in its size range. knysna 48

The Knysna 480 Featured here, is a good looking catamaran and the boat builder, Kevin Fouche is a long time friend. The Knysna Yacht Company has a great reputation and this hand crafted catamaran is designed by world renowned naval architect Angelo Lavranos. This Knysna 480 has good safety records, seaworthiness and most importantly, their warranty and after sales service commitment to the client is superb. Even though I have not personally sailed this cat, delivery skippers and owners alike, are duly impressed. The price point is very attractive.

The Royal Cape Majestic 500 is a strong, safe, spacious, stylish and well equipped all rounder. They are especially known for their fractional programs specifically because of the number of spacious accommodations. Boat builder Ken is another long time friend and has produced these cats for many years on the coast of Kwa Zulu Natal. The price is competitive and fractional program makes this a very attractive prospect.

Please contact us for more information on these or any other models & manufacturers or call us at 804-815-5054.

Thank you all for visiting us at the show. See you in Annapolis in October!
