Any buyer looking for a high performance cruising catamaran needs to look no further. Dragonfly’s long waterline, dagger board and 4’ bridge deck clearance makes her fast and comfortable. Dragonfly is pleasing to the eye and a joy to sail.

Dragonfly is a Kurt Hughes design with long waterline and 4’ bridge deck clearance and twin dagger boards making her fast and comfortable. The fiberglass composite construction using Corecell, Triaxial glass and Epoxy resin make her relatively light at 17 tons. Dragonfly was built 100% in the USA and could be inspected for USCG CERTIFICATION. Dragonfly is set up to be single-handed with all lines coming to the helm station making it easy with the electric winches. Dragonfly is pleasing to the eye and a joy to sail

Dragonfly is a one-owner boat, splashed in 1998 and used for cruising and charters operated by the owner. The spacious salon with the four queen-size berths, three head/showers and double twin forward bunks made it possible to comfortably carry up to 12 people. The large u-shaped galley with 4-burner stove, oven and 12 c/f freezer made cooking for a  crowd easy. The finish is comfortable and basic. Nothing fancy, making it easy to maintain and have strangers on board. The large swim step makes for a safe transition between the dinghy and the boat and a great platform for divers and snorkelers. The majority of the time Dragonfly was in the Caribbean, but after 16 years of cruising the owners decided to “Sail with a Purpose” and take Dragonfly to the South Pacific where Dragonfly transported nurses, doctors, dentists and others to the remote islands providing free medical services.

Due to Dragonfly’s sailing speeds of 8-17 knots, the passages on the 9000 mile trip went quickly and comfortably. With her shallow draft of 3.5’ we could take advantage of calm shallow anchorages that many others couldn’t. The 1400 watts of solar panels took care of electrical needs during the day and well into the evening when underway. Prior to the trip Dragonfly was refitted with new re-manufactured Yanmar 4jh2-hte engines In 2016 while returning to California from Fiji, Dragonfly was dismasted by a rogue wave and had to stop in Hawaii. Repairs were made and Dragonfly’s new rigging was installed with a furling headsail and temporary mainsail so the trip to California could be completed.

Dragonfly is priced to sell. Install the desired sails, learn the systems and go sailing. Dragonfly could also use aesthetic work depending on your preferences and budget. But none of it is necessary to go and live your dreams. The pricing makes Dragonfly attractive to those who are ready to do some work and then:

  • Cruise on a high performance sailing vessel
  • Operate a charter business on a large high performance catamaran for $7-9000 per week captain only or
  • Do a refit turning her into the equivalent of a million dollar vessel with significantly less investment.

PROFESSIONAL REPRESENTATION FOR YACHT BUYERS

Not all sellers use a broker, but it is very beneficial for buyers to utilize the knowledge and negotiation expertise of a broker. There are many facets involved in purchasing a yacht, for example; depending on where the boat is registered, there can be obstacles in documentation, surveys and more. Additionally, using a broker is not an extra expense as it should be worked into the price of the boat.
