Setting Sail: The Journey So Far
Their adventure is already well underway. After departing A Coruña, Spain, Mike and Deanna sailed to Cascais, Portugal, where they spent 10 days waiting for a weather window. While the pause gave them time to prepare, their true excitement came with the next destination—Madeira, Portugal.
Nestled off the coast of Morocco, Madeira proved to be a highlight, with lush green mountains, pedestrian-friendly streets, and unforgettable hiking. Though their time there was short, it was a perfect final stop before embarking on their longest passage yet.
A Long Passage Across the Atlantic
Now, aboard their current vessel, the Bernoskis are 9 days into their 17-day journey from Madeira to St. Martin. Life at sea is both exhilarating and challenging, with the rhythm of the ocean becoming their daily reality. While they miss their loved ones, the overwhelming support from friends, family, and fellow adventurers has made the transition to full-time sailing feel even more rewarding.
