Step Aboard: A Full Tour of the GranOcean W-60 Catamaran

Welcome aboard the GranOcean W-60 — a luxury catamaran built with a careful eye for both performance and ultimate comfort. In this blog, we’ll walk you through every inch of this impressive vessel, from the bow to the engine room to the custom flybridge, and highlight the thoughtful craftsmanship that sets the W-60 apart.

Spacious Bow Cockpit & Thoughtful Design Details

As you board the W-60 Power Catamaran, you’re greeted by an expansive bow cockpit designed for maximum relaxation. Twin tables fold neatly out of the way when not needed, and deep storage compartments beneath the seats provide smart space for gear. The anchor locker is easily accessible, and two large cave lockers flank the area, making it a practical yet inviting space to lounge.

An optional feature installed on this particular W-60 is the custom synthetic teak decking — offering the rich look of traditional teak but with less heat retention, lower maintenance, and superior durability. A custom rain shower has been added here as well, providing a refreshing rinse after a swim in the sea.

Versatile Aft Deck with Family-Friendly Features

Moving to the aft, you’ll find a generous deck space that’s fully customizable. While this boat features a high-low tender lift platform option, the owner opted for a massive tender stored on the flybridge via crane. The removable guard rails can even serve as diving boards for children when anchored, and the seating area is perfect for relaxing at sunset with a cocktail in hand.

Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the outdoor galley: complete with a grill to cook the catch of the day, a fish prep station with wash-down capabilities, and plenty of storage. Other fine touches include a high-end custom teak table with smart stowage for director’s chairs and a live bait tank — reinforcing the W-60’s impressive versatility.

A dedicated wet locker provides an ideal place to store gear or even convert into a day head — showing that GranOcean’s attention to detail extends to every corner.

Robust Engine Room Access

GranOcean’s engineering team thought well beyond the basics when designing the W-60’s engine spaces. In addition to a standard ladder-accessed hatch, the W-60 includes a large service hatch, allowing easy access for future upgrades or major engine maintenance — a rare and thoughtful feature that seasoned boat owners will instantly appreciate.

The Fully-Equipped Galley

The interior galley on the W-60 is nothing short of impressive. Designed by GranOcean co-owner and chief designer Eric, the galley features:

  • Double sink with cutting board
  • Full-sized oven, cooktop, and optional microwave combo
  • Ice maker
  • Integrated dishwasher
  • Spacious refrigerator/freezer combo with locking mechanisms
  • Smart pull-out appliance station for a coffee maker or blender

Ample drawers and pantry space ensure everything has a place, making meal prep a pleasure, even on the high seas.

Comfortable, Thoughtful Interior Living

Inside the salon, the W-60 Power Catamaran continues to wow with its attention to comfort. The sprung sofa seating is much more durable and comfortable than the typical foam alternatives found on many yachts, and multiple cubbyholes with custom-designed catches add to the sense of refined organization.

Other highlights include:

  • Huge flat-screen TV with soundbar
  • Convertible breakfast nook/daybed on a high-low pedestal
  • Built-in wine fridge (because every boat should have one!)

The attention to detail even extends to the finish work, with beautiful fit-and-finish touches throughout the space.

Spectacular Flybridge with GranOcean’s Signature Design

Up top, the flybridge is where the W-60 truly shines. Accessed via a wide staircase with twin handrails, the flybridge offers:

  • Spacious sun pads with storage underneath
  • Custom teak dining tables with fold-out leaves
  • Hot tub (standard on this model)
  • Wet bar with oversized fridge and ice maker

One standout feature is the flybridge wings — a GranOcean signature. This design extends the aft flybridge area to the full beam of the boat, providing space for an impressively large tender (in this case, a 16′ tender) or an epic entertainment area when the tender isn’t onboard.

The owner even added a special opening dive gate — perfect for a plunge straight into the sea.

High-Tech Helm and Monitoring Systems

The W-60 is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and monitoring systems. Highlights include:

  • Inside steering station with full controls
  • Chain counter, generator remote, and fire suppression monitors
  • GIN Empire monitoring system, offering real-time data on engine room fans, pumps, smoke sensors, tank levels, and more
  • Victron Cyber GX system integration, enabling battery and energy management via smartphone apps

The helm design emphasizes ease of use for docking and navigation, with integrated cameras under the flybridge providing extra visibility when reversing.

Solar Power for Off-Grid Adventures

Thanks to a 2000-watt solar array installed on the hardtop, the W-60 Power Catamaran can operate at anchor all night without running the generator. The system powers eight air conditioning units below deck and is designed with off-the-shelf, walkable U.S.-made solar panels that come with a 10-year warranty.

Combined with Victron inverters and alternators, this setup ensures eco-friendly, quiet nights without sacrificing comfort.

Luxurious Accommodations

Finally, the W-60 boasts a custom four-cabin layout, including:

  • A massive master suite with a king-size bed, en-suite bathroom, and panoramic views
  • Cedar-lined wardrobes throughout to protect clothing and keep interiors fresh
  • Plenty of storage options throughout the cabins

Each space was carefully considered to provide privacy, comfort, and luxury at sea — and the interior design by VIPAC offers four stylish palettes to suit different owner preferences.

The GranOcean W-60 isn’t just a boat — it’s a floating home, an adventure platform, and a luxury retreat all in one. From its customizable features to its superior craftsmanship, it’s easy to see why this catamaran sets a new standard for liveaboard catamarans.
