October 4-8, 2012: United States Sailboat Show in the “Vacation Basin” on F-Dock with Dream Yacht Charters

The 43rd United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis attracts more than 50,000 people from all over the world to the historic city that is home to the famous Naval Academy (take a tour!). The Annapolis boat show is recognized as the premier in-the-water sailboat show in the world. This is the place to make a deal on your boat, do your research, or just hang out!

Apart from some new monohull and catamaran manufacturers and models on display, there will also be some well-known favorites which makes it really hard to choose. There are so many new, innovative, and very attractive catamarans available now. It can get a little confusing but no need to get discouraged! There are a few things to consider that will make it a little easier to narrow it down like sailing performance, accommodations, fly bridge or not (for bigger cats), daggerboards or not, galley up or down, owner version or charter version and finally, construction. Once you’ve answered those questions, it comes down to personal choice and as we all know, there is no “perfect” boat but you can get close these days with all the choices out there!

We love the new catamaran model Helia 44 unveiled this summer from Fountaine Pajot. The Helia 44 will replace the Orana 44 and FP has made some good upgrades and improvements on her. They will unfortunately not have a Helia at the show, but DYC will showcase a Lipari 41 and FP will have a Mahe 36 and Salina 48 on display.

Lagoon Catamarans has been selling like hot cakes all this year with the Lagoon 450 being the most popular model by far. Their new range unveiled in the last 2 years is truly beautiful, well thought out and innovative. Check out this great tool from Lagoon, the Online Configurator where with just a few clicks, it allows owners to visualise the interior of their yacht.

We are super excited about our newly designed Island Spirit 38. Catamaran Guru has been closely involved in the design featuring new innovations, wave piercing or axe bows and resin infusion technology. The hulls and decks of all Island Spirit Catamarans are vacuum-infused under a negative pressure of -1 atmosphere. Using hi-density DIAB Divinycell PVC closed-cell foam core, high-quality ISO vinyl ester resins.
The Vacuum Infusion Process created a hull & deck that is at least 35% lighter weight, and far stiffer than any comparable catamaran manufactured by traditional single-skin hand-lay or vac-bagging techniques. We have sold the first hull (hull No.5) into the USA and it will be available to view in June 2013.

Also check out the full range of Leopard Cats as well as Catana, McConaghy, Nautitech, Corsair, Discovery Yachts (a really magnificent cruising cat), Knysna Yacht Company, Alibi, Gunboat and many others. If you need information about any of these catamarans please contact us.

There will also be seminars, boat demos during and after the show.

Seminars by Cruising World and Chesapeake Bay Magazines

  • Boat demos and take the wheel workshops
  • Smaller boats, trailerables, dinghies and inflatables
  • Sailing accessories, rigging, sails and gear
  • A new charter section (the vacation basin) features all kinds of travel and charter experiences

Please join us (Vacation Basin, F-Dock with Dream Yacht Charters) and enjoy the old town of Annapolis. It is a fun shopping and dining fest with lots of little boutiques, trinket shops, restauranst and bars. Annapolis is famous for Maryland Blue Crabs, fresh Chesapeake Oysters and the friendliest people on the bay!
