I have heard owners of the Lagoon 450 (who happen to love their boats but are ready to upgrade) say that the NEW Lagoon 50 is the perfect compromise between the hugely popular 450 model and the Lagoon 52. It is a very attractive option for owners ready to step up to a large and easy to sail owner’s boat.

Cabin Layouts and Owner’s Suite

This catamaran has quite simply one of the best designed interiors and aft cockpit layouts on the market. It has unparalleled accommodation possibilities, available in three to six cabins, with the third cabin inboard of each hull and surprisingly, even with that many cabins, it does not feel cramped, although 4 cabins in my opinion would be better if one opts for the owner’s version. The owners cabin is truly luxurious with a walk-around queen bed, a walk-in closet option and a bathroom with separate toilet, shower and vanity areas and double sinks. The closet space with plenty of hanging space, is more than ample. The natural light streaming in the through the panoramic windows is wonderful and makes all the cabins light and airy.

Saloon Layout

The innovative saloon concept is absolutely fantastic. You have two separate but cohesive areas with a a large galley that opens onto the cockpit on one side, and a slightly elevated lounge area. The lounge is in fact a great lounging area with great visibility being elevated and lots of space around the sofa. The table is very well designed to fold away against the “liquor cabinet” on folding legs. When needed, the table is easily pulled up to the sofa, the leaves are opened and you have a dining table for at least eight people or more.

Exterior Layout

Her exterior has been designed to be comfortable and functional. The flybridge provides two secure access points along wide steps and has perfect visibility at the helm station. The lounging cushions on the bridgedeck is a luxurious area and nicely integrated to form part of the helm station. The large open cockpit provides easy access to the boat from wide open and deep aft stairs on the scoops. There is no shortage of storage space with storage under most cockpit and flybridge seating. It is definitely one of the most comfortable cockpit areas that I have seen on any catamaran this size. It is very well designed. The position of the mast step further aft, which stems directly from VPLP’s experience in competitive sailing, provides this catamaran with multiple advantages such as a shorter boom for easier manoeuvres and a main sail with a high aspect ratio, enabling the capture of better airflow in the upper parts of the sail for optimised performance. We vote this Lagoon 50 as quite simply one of our absolute favorite catamarans and hundreds of people at the Cannes boat show agreed with us! We have already sold two and they literally have just made their debut. It will be a hugely popular model, for sure!
