American Product Review: Sport-a-Seat
Many of our American Proud product reviews are about new products. While the Sport-a-Seat has been around for 30 years, it is still a great product. Inventors, Nevin and Lynne Paradise, claim their Original Sport-a-Seat is “often imitated, but never duplicated” and as far as we are concerned, that is true. We and many fellow sailors on the online forums agree that there is only one Sport-a-Seat. All other similar products came after the Paradises’ creation and are all lesser-construction and are not made in the USA. The Sport-a-Seat is made in West Virginia.
Useful Portable Reclining Seat with Back Support
The heavy-duty, but not heavy, portable seat has innumerable uses on and off the boat:
- Cockpit cushion
- Relaxing aboard on any deck (when moored or at anchor)
- Sunning on the beach
- Sitting on the floor with the grandkids or watching the game
- Fishing or paddling in a boat
- Attending events that require you to sit on the ground or in bleachers
We have had carried our Sport-a-Seats for 10 years on Zuri and plan to do the same on our new Zuri. Our friends and we have used them constantly with no problems. If you consider the price, the back support, comfort, and enjoyment of activities cost us only a little more than $10/year so far and the seats are still working well. The only downside we can think of is that the comfy seats can make you lazy!
