There’s something magical about sailing into the turquoise waters of the Abacos with a fleet of like-minded cruisers. From May 4–7, 2025, that magic was fully alive as Catamaran Guru celebrated its 20th anniversary with the 5th Annual Catamaran Guru Rendezvous. This four-day gathering brought together our growing community of liveaboards, sailing dreamers, and cruising families for a one-of-a-kind experience in the Bahamas.
The fun kicked off Sunday in Marsh Harbour with a full day of hands-on learning. Cruisers attended seminars on medical emergencies at sea, participated in a live life raft deployment, and got prepped for the week’s Fun Races with a skippers briefing. As the sun dipped low, the crowd made their way to Colors Restaurant & Bar for a Jimmy Buffett-themed opening party. Complete with conch fritters, dancing, limbo, and an epic costume contest sponsored by 727 Sailbags, the evening set the tone for what was to come: fun, friendship, and full sails ahead.
On Monday, the sound of sails catching the wind filled the air as our fleet raced from Marsh Harbour to Tahiti Beach. Once anchored, the party continued with an unforgettable dinghy-floating concert by musician Shawn Owen, hosted on the deck of Snapdragon. Dressed head-to-toe in pink, cruisers embraced the Bali Pink Party theme in true tropical style. Between cocktails and cannonballs, it was clear—this was no ordinary regatta.
Tuesday delivered even more fun in the sun. Lagoon Catamarans fueled the friendly chaos with the Rumbrella Races—a hilarious spectacle of cruisers paddling pool floats and umbrellas across shallow water. Onshore, beach games like the Coconut Toss, hosted by Ocean Point Marine Lending, brought out everyone’s competitive spirit. After working up an appetite, sailors gathered for “Burgers in Paradise,” where conch burgers and cold Sands beers were the lunch of champions.
The final day, Wednesday, featured the last leg of our catamaran regatta, sailing from Tahiti Beach to Fishers Bay on Guana Cay. That night, everyone reunited at Grabbers for the grand Prizegiving Party, hosted by Flagship Underwriters. With tropical cocktails in hand and toes in the sand, we danced under the stars, swapped sea stories, and celebrated our shared passion for life on the water.
Of course, this unforgettable experience wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our incredible sponsors. From Bali Catamarans’ fabulous pink party to the generous prize contributions from Loggerhead Marina, Tendercare Boats, North Sails, and more, every detail was touched with love for the cruising lifestyle.
To every cruiser who joined us: thank you. Your energy, humor, and heart made this event a true celebration of community. We can’t wait to raise sails and glasses with you again soon.
Here’s to the next adventure!
