Growing up around freshwater lakes of the Midwest, he spent every spare moment on the water. Soon after graduating from Kansas State University in 1991, he moved to Southeast Asia where he acquired his first blue-water sailboat. During his time there, he explored countless islands across the Java Sea in Indonesia. Yet today, his draw to the ocean, sailing, and exploring continue.
