Our seaschool partner, Cruise Abaco, is owner-operated with 20+ years of sailing experience in The Abacos of The Bahamas. They offer hands-on ASA sailing courses and unique yacht charters.

The protected waters of the Abaco and its abundant outlying cays offer something for every sailor, from beginners to ocean-trekking old salts. Learn from a top-notch crew in safe, easy-to-navigate waters. Gain confidence to explore the Abaco cays on your own!

In addition to seaschool, Cruise Abaco offers bareboat and crewed charters aboard the latest luxury models of Bali catamarans, Fountaine Pajot catamarans, Leopard catamarans, and Jeanneau monohulls. Their very unique charter offering is “Captained by Day, Bareboat by Night” where you can be pampered and relax while sailing and exploring all day, then have the boat to yourself at night while safely moored. 

Their charters are quite flexible as well as you can build your own shorter and longer customized trip on any of their luxury yachts.

Learn to sail on your Bahamas holiday! Any of their courses can be added to your yacht charter booking.

Also, ask them about the Cruise Abaco crew about their liveaboard sailing immersion weeks and “Women Sailing” courses that are occasionally offered and can be booked by-the-cabin. 

Cruise Abaco ASA-certified instructors offer the following courses aboard a variety of boats:

  • Basic Keelboat Sailing (ASA 101) – Start sailing! Learn basic terminology, sailboat parts and functions, helm commands, seamanship and safety. Build confidence with your new sailing knowledge by learning to skipper a 20′ – 27′ sloop-rigged keelboat by day in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. 
  • Basic Coastal Cruising (ASA 103) – Learn to explore on your own familiarizing yourself with cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship. Practice your new skills and gain confidence by learning hands-on to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25′-35′ keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. 
  • Bareboat Cruising (ASA 104) – Prepare for bareboat chartering by learning about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, and weather evaluation. Learn by doing while sailing with your instructor aboard a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30′-45′ sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. 
  • Cruising Catamaran (ASA 114) – Learn to skipper an auxiliary-powered cruising catamaran of approximately 30-45′ feet in length during a multi-day liveaboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions.
